Khaltaro valley is only greenish valley and largest forests on such an elevation 2600 m among all valley in Gilgit baltistan. valley is lies back of Miar Chhish, Bilchhar Dobani 6143 m and bounded with high mountain of Karakorum mountain range.
valley is located 15 km from Sassi S1 on Jaglot to Skardu road. Khaltaro valley is considered the most challenging, dangerous road in Gilgit baltistan and Pakistan. It is almost 15 km 4x4 trek and considered one of most dangerous track in the world specially in rain.
only jeep track because road is unpaved, rocky vertical mountain, unprotected both side, deep ditch, small turns and suddenly road goes up never attempt it on bike and car ever.
on the way view of Karakorum mountain range is amazing the first look of Malubiting groups Malubiting I 7453 m, Bulche groups Bulche I 7016 m front of your eyes and road goes more dangerous as goes more height. jeep is passing through deadly road, no greenery, no forest,no sign of lives just mud and rocky mountain, shock your heart when wheel touching edge where deep ditch on your left side and high mountain on right side. suddenly appear far away on left side Bilchhar Dobani 6143 m and track more half hour reach small settlement of Khaltaro.
first time you saw, why i came here no sign of nature attraction just small houses bounded valley with towering hills of both side. but as you go further hike upper to Darchan village, a small village in Khaltatro. you will see the magnificent nature beauty of the valley, greenery and small meadows with forest on mountains scatter all over. that totally change your thought about this valley.
Khaltaro Haramosh has a tremendous potential in Eco-tourism, forest and wildlife. unfortunately, this valley has not been in the limelight due to its remote location and poor road condition. valley is most of the year covered with snow just open and explore places in mid June to August in summer.
